"Another designer here has been trying to quit for a week and they wouldn't let him. they told him to finish his project first. that is another 3 weeks. I just started my project so it will take at least 3 more months to do. i am not willing to stay that long."
quitting is not a matter of trying. IMO leaving a job requires you give a few week's notice, but quitting (like hey, guys, i'm outta here) requires you getting up and walking away.
they can't forbid you to do anything.
