    You don't suddenly lose the ability to lay out a screen by teaching yourself actionscript if you can design to start with.

    No but if you're predominently doing screen design and development and then try jumping into a print project, worst case scenerio is that many designers just use the same tactics/solutions thinking that design is design, regardless of the medium.

    Best case scenario is that you have the time to adjust and ease into a different way of thinking, but many of us don't have that luxury. So you find yourself applying the same principles..

    Anyhow, I'm straying from my earlier point, look at someone like a Gmunk [only example I can think of right now] who's a very talented web and motion designer, but his print work is a direct translation of his online work. This to me is the problem with a majority of these rockstar, i can do anything and everything 'designers'...
