    while i don't disagree that piracy is wrong, be it software or design, i would have nothing without software piracy.

    Pirated copies of photoshop, illustrator and quark paid for my last year in high school and kept me fed and helped keep a roof over my family's head.

    And even considering working 3 shit jobs (already had one) to afford $600 software was absurd.

    Besides that, the idea that a stop to piracy would lower prices on software is silly. Softwre is expensive because the price is set by people in suits with profit margins to worry about. And in that priacy is not quantifiable, they can't subtract those numbers from their bottom line.

    Just like CD's were $18 before p2p was popular.

    I don't condone piracy, but I can't hate on someone who takes part in order to break into a really fucking expensive industry.

    Nothing about the technology industry is inexpensive, which really sucks when it's the most accessible well paid professions.
