the cheapest ever is a hostel called the generator in russel square. it's about 15 quid a night, i think.
the one time i stayed there, i had to share a room with three horrible boys. a texan, a south african and a norwegian. the texan snored all night, the south african nattered away in his sleep and the norwegian farted some sort of evil all-i've-ever-eaten- for the-past-30-years-is -salt-cod seriously nasty farts.
