i've had these four AA batteries in my car for over a week. I'm trying to recycle them, but i'm not sure where to go. Radio Shack only takes rechargable batteries back, and i don't just want to throw them away, since i read somewhere that batteries are the leading cause of mercury in the air if they end up in incinerators. And apparently airborne mercury collects at the poles, polar bears and inuits have been measured to have such high mercury concentrations in their bodies that birth defects are just around the corner. And i just don't want to contribute to that.
So i guess i'll keep driving them around till i find a place or take time off work to drive to the dump.
