  As a card carrying former classical music major, I can tell you that it is possible to have good INTONATION-which has more to do with having a good singing voice than actually gaving a good voice. Most people with good voices can't sing in tune. I have fired many of them.
  Try to find someone in your area who can help you with sight singing and solfege, and try to find some stuff by the Hungarian composer/teacher Zoltan Kodaly.

  -Tom Waits has a hard voice, but the man sings in tune every time.
