We're not asked, per se, but we write yearly evaluations about ourselves in regards to yearly performance/pay increase.
The average year is 2-3 %, however, after one year in my position I earned a 13% increase, which made a big difference. I felt really appreciated that they looked at market value for people doing my type of work and went with such a high percentage.
