  Call Marketing companies.
  Call Design Firms.
  Tell eveyone you know.
  Keep your eyes and ears open.
  Go to Networking events.
  Open the phone book and start cold calling.

  Don't necassarily ask straight up if they have work. Ask if you can come meet people and show them what you do. Have a strong leave behind piece. Follow up and thanks them.

  Make sure you have your portfolio together, and your own marketing material before you start.
