If you are going to scale any graphics in AE or FCP then you definitely want to have them MUCH bigger than video's 72dpi.......because the second you start scaling something, if it is only 72dpi, as soon as it goes over 100% it is gonna start to deteriorate, so to compensate you make the DPI bigger......higher resolution, better looking as it scales......how much bigger depends on how big you are going to scale them up. 300dpi is very safe.....you will be able to cleanly scale something up pretty damn far without it getting all crappy looking on ya.
