Can you post? Are there any scripts applied to the buttons? Are they in any MCs with scripts applied? Are the buttons named?
If it makes you feel better, I have a preloader that only works in WinIE (Player 6,0,79) and a preloader for another movie that never works on the computer it's developed on (was pulling hair on that one!).
Makes me wonder how consistent Flash Players are...
