actually TNDAP, i think it's more to do with the cumulative effect muslims arouond the world are feeling. On the one hand there is the perception that the Atlanticists are on a military crusade against them (considering the invasion of Iraq, Afghanistan, and the threats against Syria/Iran, and unchecked Israeli militarism) and on the other hand, they see these cartoons as a sustained campaign against their very being as a culture. It is not that these images are unique (which they're not - eg the South Park episode), it's that these images were printed in September, and were reprinted, and reprinted and reprinted. Considering the global communication of culture that exists today, what it tranlates to on the streets of Damascus is that all western newspapers are daily engaged in the task of humiliating and attacking us.

It's a situation being enflamed by the militant "freedom" pushers, the Islamophobic Europeans who are terrified of Muslim immigration and specifically Turkey joining their Christian clique, and on the opposite pole the Jihadists who dream of a "clash of civilisation" with the "West".

    It's a self-fulfilling prophecy.
