so let me ask you this if your applying for a web design gig - would they frown upon you using table-based layouts? Would it be best to have a variety, like a couple table based sites, couple strict CSS sites and a couple flash based?

(Feb 6 06, 08:40)That depends if the reason you have used tables is because you dont understand CSS/DIVs. It also depends on what they are looking for. If I was looking for someone to make standards complient web-sites (which WILL at some point become gospel) then you wouldn't get the job if you were making them with tables.
Personally I look forward to the day that not 1 browser will load an invalid site. Then you'll have no excuse not to do things properly.
Of course if some distinction was made between web desiners and web "developers" that would really help. I wouldn't expect a Flash Designer to understand CSS.
