  I work in a super corporate environment and i'm not supposed to be using div's for anything due to some people in the company still using older machines and still needing to view the sites.

  If they're using browser THAT old they shouldn't even be connected to the internet. It would be a huge security issue. IE5 supports divs quite well, so I guess that decision was made by a cranky IT guy.
