    I actually had the same thing happen to my 4g ipod twice! The first time I was able to get it running again by gently tapping the bottom of the ipod against something solid when it was first booting up... sometimes the hard drive gets stuck. The second time I just returned it, kept happening, but luckily was still under warranty.

    So, try gently slamming the bottom against your desk, no joke.
