When I was a kid I was at my cousin's house with my sister. Our parents had just walked down the street to a yard sale, and we were in the kitchen making little pizzas. We heard a car drive into the garage. We looked out the kitchen window to see who it was (the garage was lower than the rest of the house, so you'd be looking down into it when viewing it from the kitchen window). It was a man in a car we didn't recognize, and he had a handgun in his lap. We all ran into the bathroom, locked the door, crammed into the shower and closed the curtain. We heard him walking through the house and looking through all of the rooms, finally coming to the bathroom door. He tried to open it and found it locked, so he started trying to kick it open, but it was an old house and the doors were really, really thick and heavy.
He finally gave up and left. Nothing was stolen, and it didn't appear that he even rifled through anything looking for valuables. To this day we have no idea who it was or what he was after. I also have no idea why the cops weren't called.
Needless to say our parents didn't believe us, until we showed them the huge boot marks on the bathroom door.
