i've been there too! in the cheapest hotel EVER! gee, that was worse then you could imagine, it almost collapsed, but that IS the charm of Montmartre.. thay told me Jacques Brel lived there when he was a student or something.. i might have slept in his bed... really old !
oh, and there are *designers/illustrators* there making FAR more cash then you would want to know.. WHAT AN ARSES! I WAS SOO PISSED!
ok, it went like this:
I was strawling there looking around the place (at night) and all of a sudden two of these artists stopped me, and asked me if I wanted a portrait..and before I could say: 'I am sorry, I am a deaf Polish veteran looking for food..' (or something to that extend), this bloke started drawing.. they said it was like 20 francs (about 3 dollars), but I ended up paying over 60 francs!! I tried to leave, but they kept following me saying i had to pay and that i misunderstood them when they first mentioned the price..
Frigging French *artists*...
and they are all over the place!
watch out if you ever go there!
or make a face that is impossible to reproduce on paper!!!!
