    i used to take that approach to new-biz when I was freelancing full time, and it rarely was worth the effort. and don't spend your time on spec logos if you can help it.

    generally speaking, small businesses with lousy logos either don't value good design, or their cousin designed the logo, or they don't have the cash to spend on a new identity. whatever the case, they'll probably be offended if you tell them how much it sucks.

    especially if you're cold-pitching
