It is slightly different in Europe where the coporations are represented by confederations and associations and the lobbying power is emmense. There are approximately 15,000 full-time business lobbyists based in Brussles that seek to water down every piece of public interest legislation coming from the EU - and they are very successful.
The Confederation of British Industry has the handy title of being the one body who has managed to water down almost every piece of environmental legislation in the last ten years.
i better not get started on this or it'll ruin my day.............
