DO NOT take renaphuahs advice (apart from make her laugh an no compliments).
"if you're friendly enough, she'll notice and start to talk to you comforatbly" - that is compeletely the wrong approach. That's like saying, "hey, look at me! over here! i'm nice and friendly and harmless and i'm always buzzing around you.. maybe you'll start to fancy me soon...?" Sounds like a one-way ticket to the "friend-zone".
REMEMBER: You have friends. You have lots of friends. You don't NEED more friend. You're not on the field to make friends.
"dont linger around if she's not comfortable." wrong wrong wrong. It's your job to MAKE her comfotable. Plant seeds of expectation and excitement in her mind. If you're not doing that, then walk away now. This is especially important if you're picking-up random women.
"give her that sexy manly "i wanna fuck you" look" - that, is fuckign retarded. Unless you are making your intentions clear from the start, and being direct with her, then making friends with her first and then giving her some weird look, will only serve to confuse the poor girl.
"eventually you'll have to make a pass at her" - NO! That's so American. DO NOT make a pass at her. I bet girls are sick of male "friends", and men in general making "passes" at them. Human mating rituals are fantastic and exciting. You have to ENTRANCE her, you have to evoke desires in her for YOU - not jump her when she's least expecting it, from a "friend".

That's loser talk! worst attitude you can take. You are not setting yourself up for failure. You DO have a plan. This girls has desires every bit as potent as yours. But girls aren't like you, they're not just waiting there for you to invite them to fuck. You have to spark her intellect. Rather than be "nice", be cocky (with humour). Tease her rather than compliment her - if you do throw a compliment in, be very very careful, use them sparingly and creatively/humourously. Be direct with her but keep her guessing as to what your intentions are. 3 steps forward, 1 step back. Challenge her to meet YOUR standards. Remember, YOU'RE the prize, and if she's lucky, she might get to spend more time with you ;).
Don't put up with any of her bullshit or snootyness, if she doesn't wanna play your game, then EJECT! She's no fun and not worth your time. NEVER supplicate, never tell her you think she's hot/attractive (UNTIL you've had sex) - she's interesting, but you're not sure yet. Get her chasing YOU. It's not difficult if you command the conversation effectively and oooze the kind of confidence that's gonna get her wet.
Calibrate the situation and adapt your technique to the way she is reacting. Look interested in her, then dont look interested, then look interested again. Break off in mid-sentence and tell her she has gunk in the corner of her eyes (in a friendly humourous way). If she's acting too good for you, shit like that will make her self-conscious and vulnerable. Perfect for her to fall under your self-assured attitude of power. Seduction is an art. In your first conversation make her feel positive, and optimistic, excited, etc. When she thinks back to you, she'll remember those feelings all over again. It's a heavy dose of psychology boyz, but it's not called "chatting her up" for nothin!
