i had to put together a presentation for the fashion and textiles industry recently. It was depressing. Apart from the exploitation and systematic poisoning of a impoverished underclass of mainly migrant workers within the natural fibre production system, the general end-consumer and environment is being poisoned at each stage of the life cycle. There is the bizarre situation in many countries where many textile manufacturers find that any trimmings or cut off from their product process is classified as hazardous waste (which they cannot landfill or incinerate) even though they can can still sell the textile to be used in the production of clothes that you and i wear for ten hours a day.
anyway, i could go into detail but fuck that eh!!
