i wonder, if the fella had ejaculated on the babies tummy, or induced it to suck the tip of his willy and took pictures of it. and that's all he did. sorry to be graphic. Perhaps the babe wasn't physcially damaged in any way. But still that would constitute rape and sexual assault of a minor under British law. Even though, in the scenario i've painted, the 12 week old will have suffered no trauma whatsoever.
However the couple have clearly transgressed our sexual boundaries, and expectedly hearing of something as vulnerable as a baby being used by unknown people for purposes we cannot understand, induces paternalistic outrage and fear.
I was reading of an anthoropologist who was studiying some tribe somewhere, where teenage boys are encouraged to felate each other and drink each others cum - brothers too. This isn't a regular activity, but happens rituatlistically as a "coming of age" tradition. The thinking is somethign to do with the great respect they give to cum as male energy, which when it passes to women during sex makes the man weaker. So they blow each other (as a ritual).
So i guess my point is about cultural relativism. I wonder if some tribe at some point somewhere, thought that when a child is born, it's farther must ejaculate on it, or do some other perversion (circumcision??) whether then we would consider a bit of baby fiddling as real abuse.
I think Lacan would have something to say about this.
