I think every large company that redesigns their logo gets thread here where everyone discusses how bad it is.
Anyone doing this for a living should know how much work went into this. Why not consider what motivated this and what problems it is solving. That is what design is about right?
The old logo isn't wonderful by todays standards and was broken, so yes, it did need fixing. The tiny word Kodak inside the symbol does not apply well when you have a quarter-inch square to apply it to.
