I had two 120GB DiamondMax Maxtor drives fail on me last year within the space of about 4 months. Of course after much googling the problem seemed at the time fairly common. But no one had really put 2 and 2 together. I've seen similiar reports on here in regards to the same drives. I would hazard a guess that they're pieces of crap. Though I was thinking that since one of the drives was under warranty and they replaced my 120gb with a 160gb there must've been some sort've hush-hush hardware upgrade. But of course a HD manufacturer would probably keep any critical information like that under lock and key.
