I used to tell myself it was going to be impossible to sing and play at the same time.
Literally worked for five years through college trying to figure it out.
Wasn't until coming to Chicago in 2001 that I first sang/played in front of people. God, thought I was going to puke. I hate that feeling. But eventually got so comfortable with it, playing my own songs, used to sit and read subtitles on the bar's tv's where I played usually every Monday night for nearly two years.Next step in my performing evolution is to figure out just how drunk I can get onstage for purposes of loosening up and being a little more spontaneous.
I hate drinking before a show because alcohol is not so good for the throat when singing.
