I've only had Epsons, so I don't know, but I've never had a problem with them.
Just got a Photo R800 and it rocks so far. Fast, quiet, superb quality.
I also have a photo 960 which you can't buy the ink for ANYWHERE but the Epson store. Worth looking into, I have to buy in bulk (not a huge deal, they ship it really fast for free, probably actually saves money as there is no tax and their prices are as cheap as anywhere).
