    Nope, mrdobs, people just do not understand how to read the OT. The principle rule of Hermeneutics is that you always interpret the OT in light of the NT. Not the reverse. The NT completes/fulfills the OT and it's foreshadowing. People like pavlov demonstrate that they haven't taken the time to learn what the word "slavery" means in the Hebrew language and culture. They were essentially members of the family. Additionally, God dealt with a stubborn rebellious people who insisted on keeping their customs. God, choosing to not violate their freewill, gave them regulations for the precepts they insisted on keeping.
