yes, as a matter of fact, i did. that whole beach is a big surfing area and that's actually a huge memorial statue to a kid who died there a year or so ago. it's two hands sort of pressed together at the base of the palm and gesturing upwards in a rather supplicating gesture. it reads something like, 'may your soul reside in the sea, your body in the earth, and your spirit in our memories. the pilgrims of oactpaletepec will always honour you.'
