I just spent 3 months in Ireland (Dublin) looking for work. The creative community there doesn't really feel like much of a community even though there are quite a few firms. Most large mulitnational agencies have their offices set up in London or the UK rather than Ireland.

Living there right now is fascinating. The country is changing incredibly quickly, and there's an influx of immigrants from eastern europe and mainland china. It has also become a very expensive country. Dublin is now ranked the 3rd most expensive city in Europe. Brace yourself.

Having said that, it has become nearly impossible for Irish companies to hire/sponsor non-EU citizens, so if you've got any link to Ireland or any EU countries take advantage of that and go to Ireland with an EU passport. Otherwise, you can work as a freelancer, but then you'll have to figure out how to stay in the country on a tourist visa. Lastly, you can set up your own company there and that's another way to get a working visa.

www.creativeireland.com is a good resource for current job listings and will also give you an idea of what positions are available.
