I'd offer the 'Go to HTML' link the whole way through, outside of the Flash movie. Some people just don't like using Flash b/c a Flash site usually doesn't function like a 'normal' site (ie. no back button, frequently no copy and paste, etc. etc.).
If you can swing it, try and make a preloader that doesn't look like a preloader. I can't think of any examples right now but imagine something like Kurt Noble Inc.'s site for the Army (?) without any loading. Reuse symbols, use vectors and stuff to make it look like something more interesting than a preload bar or percentile counter. Unless that's what's wanted...
And I like the Ultrashock splash. It's pretty neat and I've never tired of it for some reason. But that's one of the few...
Re. the Fork example in the post previous. That's way better. Fork's site is full rad. Knock all the buildings down in one of the sections for wallpaper!
