back to the sequencer thing - it has a lot to do with his offbeat/onbeat style. he produces his own drums, mainly on an mpc and it makes a difference because apparently he sequences his beats without any quantization. in other words he does alot of drumming 'live' on the mpc, without it auto snapping it to the tempo for him. this is not easy, and it creates a swinging feel to his shit.
