If its configured correctly there are no quality issues.
Ask them to push you latest firmware version (prevents echo and static).
If you have multiple routers put the voip first in line.
Use a handset with echo cancellation.
I had clients complain constantly of static when I had a Verizon landline. After getting, and properly configuring VOIP, they all remark on the improvement in quality.
