u really think she looks empowered? i think she looks cheap, and pretty desperate. But then i think all pop-stars and celebrities who nurture a submissive sexuality look cheap and desperate.
I'd have thought that she'd be a better role model for Saudi women (if that's what your
looking for) if she was on the front cover of Cosmopolitan as an economically independent self-made CEO of some NASDAQ listed technology firm or something. Not being "free" to play the sexual object that so many Saudi men see women as anyway. But then i don't think she's in GQ to empower Saudi women. Rather the satisfaction in seeing this half naked "hot bitch" is a taunt - hey mr islamic terrorist, all your women belong to us! now what huh? It's like the Serbs who used rape as a weapon of war to demoralise the enemy.
This is no madonna taking some risque shots to push some "boundaries" to strike a blow for post-modern feminism. The context is entirely different.
Reading her interview she sounds DESPERATE to be accepted by the "west" by the US. It makes it even sadder and even more pathetic that this is her attempt at being accepted.
