In-house for the steady work and healthcare + freelance to keep an edge and some extra drinking $$.
I think being happy in either in-house or an agency depends on the people and the management of the respctive organization.
Personally, I got sick of the club house mentality many agencies seem to have. But at least the parties were great. :-/
