I recently did some research about working in the US too. I quickly realised that it's going to be very hard to get a visa.
In short here's what i've learned:
- A visa (or green card) to work for an indefinite time is almost impossible to get.- Even when you work as an intern for free, you need a working permit!
- Apparently type H1B visa are easier to get because it determines your time in the USA (eg. job for 1 year). However, you have to give a VERY good reason to return home after that period otherwise the goverment thinks you want to stay and apply for a permanent visa.
- H1B visa requires a company that will vouch for you (they need to sponsor you).
- They have to fill in all the forms and somehow show the goverment that they cannot find a US citizen to fill the position.
It seems to me it's almost impossible to find a US-job in our business.
Any thoughts/experiences anyone?
