you make having a .us domain sound so horrible -
... it's a domain name - you're not advertising it on TV or radio (or are you)... so I wouldn't sweat it being 'perfect'. If it's on your biz card and someone can write it down w/you giving it to them over the phone... then you should be fine.
that's just my honest opinion...
