okay okay, it's to secure the oil in the region for ourselves before the chinese get their greasy mits on it. but at the same time, it's quite fortuitous for everyone involved to bring a superior form of government to them at the same time. seriously though, they were ruled by a madman, so they end up with maybe ten years of bombings, followed by hundreds of years of proper civilization. sound like a deal to me. especially if it keeps china from ruling the world. if you think america is bad, can you imagine what they would be like?
