Haha, you certainly enjoy your caricateurisations Cocktus. Quite funny how you’re pretending to be French too, maybe you think that’ll give you credibility?

Anyhoo, you made a couple of points in your excruciatingly longwinded tirade. Firstly I am not downplaying the excesses of no-one. What I’m attacking is the narrative born of ignorance, that people like you spout every single time there is an incident that involves a Muslim group. Do I think there are Muslim extremists in this world? Yes of course there are. Most religions seem to have that. The play Behzti had to be closed down earlier this year in the UK due to death threats to its writer from the Sikh community (I think the woman is still in hiding). As for the bombings. Yes there is a global Jihadist movement whose roots, goals and nature is so complex, that it wont fit so easily into your binary clash of civilisations discourse. Then there are the riots, which I can’t possibly (and I am trying to) see how they are linked to Islamic Jihad. I could point to many riots that happened in the UK during the 80s/90s that involved the Christian Afro-Carribean Communities, but of course you have to ignore those to make a special case of Muslims not assimilating.

Similarly your vague argument on what’s happening in Oz is based on conjecture without any cohesive argument. As far as I read into the story, a group of Lebanese kids assaulted a life guard, which incurred a back-lash from surfers. Now I don’t see where Islam comes into this. Yesterday 5 youths were convicted in London for murdering a gay bar-tender. The kids were white, one afro-Carribean. At no point did the media report on their ethnicities. I have a strange, paranoid feeling, that if those kids were all Turks, Bengalis, Arabs etc... the media would be full of stories of “Muslims murder man for being gay”, and vindictive comments on how Islam is opposed to homosexuals etc.. A month ago 4 Bengali kids beat a white boy to death and the headlines in the Sun newspaper read “Muslims beat white student to death.” My point about the “Yugos” is that in the past few years, there was a lot of tension between that community and locals in the North of England (where I grew up). A Serb man was murdered a couple of years ago by white kids. Again, immigrants tend to have assimilation issues. But why is it when Muslims are involved people like you have to invoke a world wide Muslim problem?

What I don’t understand, is how a man like yourself, Cocktus, who lives so far far away, knows absolutely nothing about life in Australia, feel confident enough to point the fingers at Islam, Muslims, global Jihadism, and the murder of a Dutch film director as somehow being linked to 4 Lebanese kids attacking a lifeguard. The arguments you are using are what they call in Neuro-Linguistics, Complex Equivalence.

(PS wot you said – “you live in a parallel universe to me. If you think that the US is a bigger danger to peace in the world than North Korea,”. Well you just went and twisted what I said, to suit yourself. You said “do you think there is a problem with Islam?”, I answered “I have many problems with that religion... but I don’t see it as a big threat to global security as US foreign policy.” I said nothing about North Korea and Iran – I think they pose grave and serious challenges to the world. Nor did I say anything about Islamic terrorists and Al Qaeda. I was talking about Islam in its multifarious diversity as a religion whose “threat” to the world (if there is one) pales to insignificance as compared to the militaristic and sanctimonious foreign policy of the United States. See the difference? Hehehe, course you do silly muppet!)
