Because capital punishment is irreversible, there is a long process of appeals to higher courts. A lot of times these ends up taking a long time. Sometimes trials may last a year and the process of appeal could take longer.
I heard that it's cheaper to put a prisoner behind bars for life than it is to put them to death.
Also just wondering where they find this " new" witness. it's a bit fishy.
