I have background music during 95% of my life, but a change to silence sometimes helps me work.
In offices, I'd rather have music to drown out the humdrum cacophony of industry - but there's nothing worse than being subjected to too much of other people's music, or having it forced into your ears as soon as you walk in in the morning.
