I would love to come to an arrangment with my family that we don't get each other gifts, but instead donate to a charity, get things for children that don't have much.
My mom still asks me for a Christmas list, and it's tough to think of things I need. It's tough because for years when I'd give her a christmas list, I'd never get anything from it. I've told her to stop buying me clothes - she buys for what I would have worn 15 years ago.
She won't give gift certificates, thinks they are impersonal.I also have a terrible time shopping for my parents (I've got four, both mom and dad are remarried) and most years it becomes a challenge to find the most acceptable thing for the sake of getting something. I try to put thought into it, my Dad is the easiest as we have many interest in common.
My Mom told me to get my stepdad a John Denver greatest hits CD.
She also told me to get him this last year, and I did not.I can't figure out why he wouldn't just go get it himself after nearly a year has gone by without it.
