a few notes:
- salaries in NY are lower than they should be considering the cost of living. i'd attribute it to the competition, but you should also know that there is a lack of good talent in most cities right now.
- it sounds as though you should be making at least 10k more than you are currently, but no company is going to give you a 10k raise just because you ask for it.
- sounds like you're being underpaid & underappreciated, i'd say start applying elsewhere, and when the offers roll in, you can always take them to your boss and see if they will match it. if not, move on, it's for the best.
- the best way for a serious salary jump is to find a new gig, designers do this all the time.
