the best advice I can give (which is not necessarily NYC related) is that you need to weigh up your experience, weigh up the market (as in; can you get a job elsewhere) and then weigh up how much you would be happy with, without being unrealistic. And then just dont be happy with anything less unless the work is really exciting. You only get what you expect you deserve. I think I took too long to realise this.
