    It's still the most creative show to be on TV in a long time.

    But most shows that are good with a unique story suffer a similar fate. They just try to keep it going forever. New characters, new sub-plots, etc., so in the end you have no idea what's happening.
    The main idea gets diluted, most likely to keep it on the air longer.

    Honestly, though, and I only found it about 2 months ago, it continually surprises me with new things.

    I don't think it's overrated, just that 99% of TV sucks so bad that it stands out like a gleaming star.

    Twin Peaks comes to mind. X-Files, in my opinion, was 90% filler. The 10% was great, but the rest was just used to fill between stories with actual plots (that connected).
