the western isles are cool as fuck too, but don't be fooled by the relatively small distances inbetween them...
the roads are often only single track wide and very twisting... ie you'll average 30mph if you're lucky.
If you've got the time go to Harris - the most westernly of the inhabited Hebridees (St Kilda is the most west but is a wildlife sanctuary now... although it used to have a colony of hardy islanders who subsisted on a diet of wind-dried puffin - I shite ye not, look it up)
