as an AD and designer who works remotely w/ 99% of all my clients/agencies, this is something that can happen very easily, but can be managed. albeit taking a pretty strict adherence to project management process.
i would definilty include your comps in your portfolio and be proud of them. also, credit given where credit due; state what they were for and how used and then include link to live site that is effed if you like.
