trains in Italy are pretty good, fast and cheap - and the ticket machine in the station is in english, so no problems there.
Italians have dificulty figuring out which seat they are meant to be sitting in though, so don't be surprised if someone starts ranting at you then suddenly realises they are in the wrong carriage and fucks off again ;)
