probably, if you tried two batteries and had the same results.
go to control panel and then "power" and see if there is anything that jumps out at you there.

____________________Yeah, I know enough about PCs to have checked that all out, I was hoping that there was going to be some kind of PMU reset or something so that it would start working properly.
