I agree with 5timuli, it can be a little scary at first and you can feel vunerable but after a while its fantastic. i went north from goa [calagute] into the jungle and sampled some warm fenny [sp?] from a mud hut distillery and onto waterfalls in the jungle [very weird journey].... which was fantastic and onto a secluded beach for a couple of nights. slept in a shack on the beach woken by the waves crashing in....absolutely beautiful.
i'd also avoid going just before the rainy season [end of march i think] cos it is damn humid all the time
