    But really, is it any better or worse than 90210 was, or Melrose? Time and alcohol has fogged my memory, but I seem to recall them sucking just as badly...

    Yup, same stuff. Unfortunately, it'll be just as popular as those. Maybe not a classic yet, but could be in the future. My professor already used The OC as an example for certain lectures in some of my media classes last year.
