Head chopping is totally fucked as well, and I can see how that can be a horrible experience, for not just the soldier, but also the family who has to see it on TV broadcasting on every news station.
The issue is the US Government is involved in treaties, legislation, or whatever which forbids their soldiers, or ordering their soldiers from torturing captives. There is obviously something messed up when the VP is asking if the CIA can be exempt from legislation prohibiting these actions, and there are memos within the government stating torture is acceptable. The "few bad apples" may not be just a few punk soldiers who get off on doing weird shit to prisoners, but people with significant power within this administration. Just because the insurgents do fucked up things, it does not make it ok for us to.
